Animals killed in train crash still remembered 122 years later - Catherine - 08-16-2015 A circus train crashed near a small town in Pennsylvania and many animals were killed. Some escaped and lived in the area for years. The locals held a memorial on the anniversary for years. The town still holds a memorial for human and animal lives that were lost. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/08/15/the-train-crashed-then-the-circus-animals-vanished.html I think it is beautiful that lives that were lost so tragically have not been forgotten. RE: Animals killed in train crash still remembered 122 years later - Tobi - 08-18-2015 What a tragic thing to happen. And yes, it is good that the whole town holds a memorial each year. They are not forgotten. RE: Animals killed in train crash still remembered 122 years later - Catherine - 08-18-2015 I thought it was really touching. It makes me think of the dead racoon memorial in Toronto. I think it was meant sincerely. We don't want to forget. Those who died deserve to be remembered. RE: Animals killed in train crash still remembered 122 years later - Tobi - 08-19-2015 122 years is a long time. So that shows the strength of the meaning it has for those people. Passed down through the generations. RE: Animals killed in train crash still remembered 122 years later - Catherine - 08-19-2015 It must have had a real impact on the community. I suppose that places that have had disasters do remember, but as you say 122 years is a long time. I think that is why I found the story so touching. |
