Great efforts to protect Western Painted Turtles - Catherine - 10-19-2015
There is an impressive effort being made to protect the Western Painted Turtles in British Columbia.
They have had to dig the eggs up and move them because of a coal spill. The spill might have been a problem, the machinery to clean up the spill certainly would have been too much.
They have had to move them again and they will need new sand.

Poor little turtles, but good thing there are people there to help them.
Ideally people would stop destroying their habitat with things like coal spills.

I am glad to hear the turtles are being helped.
What a mess we can make with what we create! And also what good caring things we are capable of!

The turtles would have been fine on their own with out all the mess of train derailments and things being dumped. It is amazing that they were able to dig the babies up and protect them. It is more incredible that they plan to give them clean sand for their beaches.
That is determination and they deserve a award or some kind of thank-you from all of us.
