Venezuelan pets starve during economic crisis - Catherine - 09-13-2016

The economy in Venezuela has taken a terrible down turn. Many people are just barely surviving. They just have nothing left to feed their pets. The shelters are overwhelmed and people all over are abandoning their pets.

I don't know if there is an aid group that can help. Surely there is some way to donate food . We have pet food banks here. Maybe there needs to be an international pet food bank that gets food to areas in crisis. This is a real crisis for the people and the animals.

It is heartbreaking. Surely someone or some charity from outside has to come in here to help? There has to be some help....surely?

I am surprized that no international aid group is helping. Surely they know about the crisis. Of course maybe the government won't let any groups come in and help.

I foundĀ  follow up article about animals IĀ  the zoo starving.

There are some local animal rescue groups. I just don't know how they are doing right now.

It does look as if they are trying, but so many animals are in need.

I don' know if we can help in any way. At least we can let people know there is a problem.
