Animals with misleading names - Catherine - 11-21-2016 I found this interesting. I also learned that I have been wrong all my life about some animals. http://news.google.ca/news/url?sr=1&ct2=ca%2F7_0_s_2_1_a&sa=t&usg=AFQjCNEGHB7puOD5iHmvUw-IFyeusiQBDw&cid=null&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.nationalgeographic.com%2F2016%2F11%2Fanimals-names-lemurs-anteaters%2F&ei=lYoyWNibCcuW3QHqyKqwBg&sig2=sOu013epCOT-3K1kthT_yw&rt=HOMEPAGE&vm=STANDARD&bvm=section&did=-1094254779615349241&sid=-7490828287450190495&ssid=cstm&st=2&at=dt0 I thought mountain goats were a type of sheep. I have even seen them in the wild. You think I would have figured it out. They are actually antelope family. So, what animals were you wrong about? RE: Animals with misleading names - Tobi - 11-21-2016 What a fascinating article. Many of the animal categories i didn't know. I used to see wild mountain goats too. They are huge and can be a bit fierce if someone accidentally walks into their territory. I always thought they were "Goats" too, and didn't realise they were in the Antelope family. RE: Animals with misleading names - Catherine - 11-22-2016 When people name things they don't always know what they are naming. I don't know what I would have called that flying mammal. It is like nothing I have ever seen. |
