Volunteers rush to save a beached whale - Catherine - 01-03-2018 A male Pilot whale beached itself at Rainbow Haven Beach in Nova Scotia. The word went out and a hundred volunteers showed up to rescue the whale. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2018/01/02/nova-scotia-volunteers-rush-to-rainbow-haven-beach-to-save-a-stranded-pilot-whale_a_23321456/ It is amazing how they were able to get him back into the water. It is bitter cold right now so they were a determined group of people. Once he was in the water it took the work of a paddle boarder to get him to head out to deeper water. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/whale-rescue-rainbow-haven-beach-paddleboarder-1.4470002 It took the work of many people, but it looks like the rescue was a success. It is a good thing they found him in time. Much longer on the beach and he could have frozen to death. RE: Volunteers rush to save a beached whale - Tobi - 01-11-2018 What a good team effort! I love to hear of a bunch of people getting together to help an animal like this. RE: Volunteers rush to save a beached whale - Catherine - 01-11-2018 It was an amazing rescue. It was even more impressive when you think how spontaneous it was and how very cold it was. People can be so good sometimes. |
