Hundreds of cows trapped on a ship...soon to be killed - Catherine - 03-01-2021 A shipment of more than 850 cows left Spain months ago. It was feared that they had bluetongue so they were not allowed to dock. They have lived in terrible conditions ever since. There were times when they didn't even have food or water. Now after all this time they are in terrible condition. No one wants them and they will probably all be slaughtered. It is not clear if they ever had bluetongue. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/cows-stranded-at-sea_n_603a7c3ec5b617a7e40e0291 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/feb/25/cattle-stranded-at-sea-face-slaughter-if-ship-docks-in-spain-says-manager Yet another reason why shipping live cattle is wrong. Sending animals to slaughter is bad. Holding them in horrible conditions for months and then slaughtering them is unbelievably bad. The animals have suffered and they they will be killed. If they are in a hurry to kill them, I doubt it will be that humane. There is a second ship with 1800 cattle on board. Their future doesn't look too good either. It is way past time to end live transport of cattle or any other animals. |
