Widowed goose seeks his dead mate. - Catherine - 06-10-2022

Canada Geese mate for life. So when one bird is killed the other is left to mourn. People in north Toronto are experiencing this first hand. The female was killed by a car and now the male hangs around looking for her. It is heartbreaking to witness. He may eventually move on, but he will never stop mourning his mate.

We underestimate animals. They are capable of deep emotions and deep bonds. So when you kill one goose, you have destroyed the lives of both.
That is something hunters should think about. The pain they cause to the animal they shoot is nothing compared to the pain suffered by the one left behind.
I wish there was something we could do for the goose, but there isn't. He just has to find his own way through this.
