Leptospirosis outbreak/vaccine shortage in Australia - Catherine - 10-18-2022

Australia is having a Leptospirosis outbreak among dogs. At the same time there is a shortage of the vaccine to protect the dogs from the bacterial infection.
The disease is serious, it can kill a dog in 48 hours.  The vaccine supply could be replenished by mid-November.
Until then pet owners need to be careful.  This article has some good advice.

It is so frightening when you think about it. We do the best we can for our pets, but things like this can happen. Hopefully warning people will be enough to protect their pets until they can be safely vaccinated. Even knowing the disease is out there could help someone seek treatment sooner and hopefully in time to save an infected pet.
