Endangered Cockatoos are thriving in Hong Kong - Catherine - 06-24-2023

Yellow Crested Cockatoos are endangered in their natural habitat, the island of Indonesia. However a thriving population has been found in Hong Kong.
They are living in the parks in the city and doing very well.

This is an odd thing that is happening. There are birds like cockatoos and parrots establishing themselves in cities around the world.
In many cases we have damaged their natural habitats and they are struggling to survive. We have made pets of them in other places and they have escaped or been released and they are thriving. Many times they are surviving in places where it didn't look like they could survive. This gives new hope for the survival of some species even if it isn't in their natural habitat.
