Breed ban in England will lead to the deaths of healthy animals - Catherine - 10-02-2023

England is putting in a ban on American Bully XL dogs. This will increase the number of dogs being turned in at shelters. The shelters will be unable to rehome them because they are illegal. They will be forced to euthanize healthy dogs that they can no longer keep.
The ban is in response to a number of dog attacks.

Breed bans don't work. Toronto has a breed ban for pit bulls. It didn't change the number of dog attacks. It is a useless ban. It gives people a false sense of security around strange dogs. It might be better if we taught people how to act around a dog. It would help if people were taught to be better dog owners.
When you blame the breed you are not targeting the right people.
Sadly many dogs will die before England realizes its mistake.
