Staten Island Turtles missing - Catherine - 10-09-2023

Shnappy and Jeffrey are missing. They are 2 large large snapping turtles that live in Clove lake on Staten Island. Shnappy is a 50 pound, 50-75 year old turtle.
He has lived in Clove Lake many years. It is feared they were poached for turtle soup. So far there are no clues and it has been weeks since the turtles were seen.

It is almost certain they are gone. People do such horrible things. These turtles were almost like pets and they were much loved by the people who knew them.
To kill them to eat them is a betrayal of how much they trusted humans.
I hope they catch the ones who did this. They need to be punished.
