Charges laid in animal cruelty/hoarding cases - Catherine - 08-24-2024 Two women were charged after 180 dogs and cats were found in terrible conditions in their home. The animals were in crates stacked on top of each other. The place was so bad the responding officers were unable to remove the animals. People in hazmat suits had to come back and rescue the animals. The animals are being cared for and the women were sentenced to a year in jail and prohibited from owning animals. https://www.yahoo.com/news/crates-animals-were-stacked-top-204519701.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKKW162qDZQkBUnwzk0K2zHeomVuo5i76suHlH-C0SD_vfHLkL8LlNHUMY9DYnWW9U-uxYAOguYhb8HMd_eOhpO6sCpmCInMUy0pbRdKBBuXFlP2nzxVWbokzkvM2rsm5IuI7Wlf0hI6bUUJSsfo_42z4HMU6borTBg5msd8s69i Thirty one animals were rescued from home in Kansas. There were duck, roosters, hens, cats and 1 pigeon. There were living in terrible conditions. When given water to swim in the ducks were so excited. https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article291247505.html A mother and daughter were arrested after cats, dogs and even two children were removed from a trailer. The conditions they were living in were deplorable. Numerous animals needed medical care and the home was considered and unsafe structure. https://www.fox13news.com/news/citrus-county-mother-daughter-arrested-after-animals-kids-removed-from-inhumane-living-conditions It is sad that I am coming across so many articles about animal hoarding. People actually think they are helping the animals. They think they are giving good care. It is like they are blind to the actual conditions the animals are experiencing. In the one case there were children involved and the structure was unsafe. How do people go from having one pet that you can care for to having a dozen or even 100. Clearly their lives are out of control, but why, how does it happen. I know they have been charged with cruelty, and the animals do deserve to be recognized in this way. However I am seeing a bigger problem. They are people in distress who need help long before it becomes a case of animal cruelty. I don't know what the answer is, but we do need to find an answer. The way things are now, animals are suffering in these situations and some are no rescued in time. RE: Charges laid in animal cruelty/hoarding cases - Aussienan - 08-24-2024 It's a type of mental illness but if you love and care for animals you must know on some level that you are not doing the right thing. RE: Charges laid in animal cruelty/hoarding cases - Catherine - 08-25-2024 I guess it is a mental illness and it blinds people to the way the animals are actually living. They see themselves as good caregivers. That is the sad part. They actually mean well. |
