The UK just enacted a new law for pet theft. The thief could be jailed 5 years and fined.
This law recognizes that a pet is not just another piece of property. The emotional impact of having a pet stolen is far greater than the loss of something like a cell phone.

This is a very important change in the law. There have been too many dog thefts lately. The impact of a pet theft is devastating. It is not just the loss. It is the forever wondering if the animal you love is okay. There should be a serious penalty for that.
