Newborn Orca calf in trouble - Catherine - 10-14-2024

Orcas on general are in trouble. It was happy news when a calf was born on Sept 16, to L Pod. The calf looked well.
When the calf was seen again on October 6, it was clearly n trouble. The calf has not been seen since.

All the west coast pods are declining. Even one surviving calf would help. Sadly things are not going well for any of the pods.
It certainly doesn't look good for the calf born on Sept 16.
Most likely there are environmental issues that are causing the decline in Orca populations. We have made a mess of the oceans
and Orcas and many other speciesĀ are paying the price for our mistakes.
