Tortoise rescued after sanctuary flooded - Catherine - 01-25-2025

After a cyclone, the tortoise sanctuary in Madagascar flooded. Staff and volunteers worked hard to rescue as many tortoises as they could.
The video shows people in water up to their knees gathering up tortoises and taking them to safety. They couldn't save them all, but they saved many.

Can you imagine how much work it was to save thousands of tortoises. How many hours did people wade through flood waters searching for tortoises.
I am always so impressed by the way people step up in an emergency. All those tortoises will live because people were there for them.
They need those tortoises to restore ecosystems in Madagascar. Saving that many will have a long term impact on the ecology of Madagascar.
