When the land was restored, the birds returned - Catherine - 03-16-2025

The Loess Plateau in China had been heavily farmed and had become quite depleted. It was one of the most eroded areas on the planet.
A major restoration project was proposed. Some of the farmland was returned to nature. Trees were planted and grasslands were allowed to grow.
Once this started to happen, the birds returned. The area is more alive and more stable.
Climate change does effect how the land is restored, but the land is being restored.

This is impressive. The area was so bad, it didn't look like it could be helped. They didn't even rewild the whole area, just parts of it.
That was enough to bring the  birds back. Nature finds a way, if we just give it a chance and a little help.
Planting trees changes everything for the better.
