The Great Swedish Moose Migration - Catherine - 04-16-2025
Every spring the moose migrate to their summer grazing areas about 300 km north west of Stockholm.
They started live steaming the event in 2019 and just under a million people watched the 20 day, 24 hour event.
In 2024, it attracted 9 million viewers.
They started early this year because of the warmer weather, but the fans were ready.
Hours can pass with nothing happening and then dozens of moose go by. You get to see them calmly swimming the river.

This is part of what they are calling Slow TV. There is no wild, exciting programing. There is just a live stream of moose slowly walking to their summer pastures.
Moose are in no hurry. They are going to be there all summer, so what's the rush.
That is the attraction of the Great Moose Migration.
We live in a fast paced, high stress world. Watching moose wandering through the woods and swimming rivers is what we need right now.
It just slows the pace right down. Nine million people took the time to watch moose walking slowly and they feel better for it.
I admit, I love the idea of moose migrating and I love the idea of watching moose migrate.
If I only get to see the odd video of the migration, it will be enough.

I think it is beautiful that people take time to watch the moose migrating. In this crazy world, some people have their priorities straight.
