Turtle returns to the wild after a year of rehab - Catherine - 05-21-2025

It is nice to hear good news. A large snapping turtle was found injured last year. North Simcoe Veterinary Service provided his initial care. Then he was transferred to the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center. Now after almost a year of care, he is health and strong and going home. He was released into Wye Marsh on Friday.
He can now carry on with the life that was interrupted by his injuries.

There is some good work being done for our turtles.

So many turtles are endangered. Without our help their numbers are declining.
It takes snapping turtles a long time before they are old enough to breed. Saving a big turtle like this
is important to the survival of the species. It is also nice to see an animal able to return to the wild to live out his life after a little help from his human friends.
