Protecting sheep from wolves with a donkey - Catherine - 06-02-2025
A farmer has come up with a good way to protect his sheep from the wolves that have been spotted in their area.
He uses a donkey to protect the sheep. A donkey will do the job. It will get along well with the sheep.
Added bonus, the donkey eats the same food as the sheep. The donkey can live out there with the sheep, year round, with no special care.

This is good thinking. It doesn't harm the environment to have a donkey with the sheep.
This is one of those solutions that benefits the environment. It doesn't do harm to wolves. It just repels them.
Everyone wins. The donkey probably enjoys its good life with a group of sheep.

Llamas (bigger and stronger than alpacas) have been often used to protect against foxes and they can protect against wolves also. There are documented cases of llamas kicking wolves to defend themselves and/or sheep.

Llamas would be a good choice. They could be used to protect sheep in areas that are too cold for donkeys.
Wolves would learn to leave them alone.
