Rabbits with horns? - Catherine - 08-16-2025 People have been noticing rabbits with odd horn like growths in Colorado. They have been calling them Frankenstein Bunnies and Zombie Bunnies. It brings to mind the Jackelope stories about a possible antelope jack rabbit cross(totally impossible). It turns out it is a simple virus that causes wartlike growths. They are not really horns. They don't hurt the rabbits. The rabbit immune systems will eventually get rid of them. https://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/article/rabbits-with-horns-in-colorado-are-being-called-frankenstein-bunnies-heres-why/ I am glad the rabbits are going to be fine. Now I know where the jackelope story come from. I heard it when I visited Colorado in the 1970s. You have to wonder if other odd animal myths have some simple explanation. |
