Cedar the blind baby moose dies suddenly - Catherine - 08-23-2025
sadly, little cedar has died suddenly.
He was found wandering, without a mother, almost completely blind, in early July.
Holly's Haven Wildlife Rescue took him in and cared for him. He was thriving. He was in a peaceful environment where he was well fed and much loved.
As soon as he was ready, Toronto Zoo was going to receive him. There is an enclosure already waiting for him.
Even an hour and a half before his death he appeared fine. Then he was gone.
They have not yet determined why he died.

I never got to meet him. I was so looking forward to going to the zoo and finally seeing our beloved Cedar.Who knows what happened. Maybe it is related to why he is blind. I hope we find out what happened, but it is possible we will never know.
Sometimes these things just happen. At least he had some happy weeks where he was cared for and loved.
Farewell little Cedar. I would love to have known you.
