WWF---Half the world animals have gone - Catherine - 09-30-2014

This is a disturbing report. The WWF study shows that half the animals in the world have disappeared since 1970. It is human activity that has caused this.

So we have changed the world, but not for the better.

If we act now we might bring some species back, but for some it is too late. What a mess we have created.Undecided

Yes, I saw this on the BBC News.

We are the guardians of Mother Earth.
As the Native American proverb goes 'We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children'.

There are no words...

Once again the paradox of the existence of humans on this earth. Some are capable of doing great good, but others cause irreparable damage to Mother Earth.

I don't know.
Too many people might be the cause. Plus most people do not want to live simply. Too many resources needed to keep a human world population which gets bigger every day. Even people I know, who are quite decent people in many ways, crave expensive cars, or cars which consume huge amounts of petrol. The car feeds their ego. They don't even consider the consequences beyond their own desires fulfilled. And that is only one small example.

I hope that education and constantly making people aware of the damage we are doing, will help to halt this destruction. So far, people are not thinking. I hope that the animals' decline can be rectified.

I think we are working on it. It could go either way. We could mess things up so bad that we can't survive or we can fix things and learn to live with the planet.

Either way the planet will survive and renew, with or without us. It will be a sad thing if we take much of the species with us. I think our survival is dependant on keeping the balance of nature as it exists now. I am not a doom and gloom end of the world person, but you can see how nature out of balance means more natural disasters.

Even living a little more simple and eco-friendly would make a difference if enough people do it.
