Research Beagles safe - Catherine - 05-04-2026

Ridglan Farms breeds Beagles for researchers. Protestors have been after them. The protestors have bought the beagles and Ridglan  has finally started releasing the Beagles. Two thousand beagles will be saved.  Ridglan is giving up its license on July 1 so no more dogs will be in danger.

Now the dogs need to be taken to shelters and evaluated. They need to learn how to be dogs. Then they need loving homes where they will get the treatment they always deserved. Their lives are turning out much better than they would have if the activists and protestors had not done their part.
Well done everyone.

RE: Research Beagles safe - LPC - 05-09-2026

"Ridglan Farms agreed in October to give up its state breeding license as of 1 July as part of a deal to avoid prosecution on felony animal mistreatment charges. The firm has denied mistreating animals, but a special prosecutor determined that Ridglan Farms was performing eye procedures that violated state veterinary standards."

Good riddance to a cruel, ruthless company. I just hope that a different company does not take its place.

That is the second time a beagle breeding facility has closed in the USA. Maybe it is getting less profitable because they are being watched and they can't get
away with mistreating the animals. I am hopeful that this is part of a trend away from animal testing.

This is the only article I could find from the 2022 beagle rescue.

https://people.com/pets/meghan-markle-and-prince-harry-adopt-rescue-beagle-who-suffered-abuse/

I know I saw an article that said all the dogs had found homes.

I found another article.

https://www.speciesunite.com/news-stories/4000-beagles-are-looking-for-their-forever-homes-after-being-rescued-from-horror-medical-research-breeding-facility?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22582754537&gbraid=0AAAAABx4PnV8nS-KwgnLLkvSFpsJKpMKj&gclid=CjwKCAjwtvvPBhBuEiwAPMijr1V19OsglB-z5qWPWK8BI9PlFCNkoWwrK_TV15s761VAT8xFFRqiXRoCKZQQAvD_BwE

If the breeding facilities shut down, then there will not be animals available for the labs to use.
We can only hope and keep pushing for this to happen.
