Legal battle over bird seed bell - Catherine - 06-17-2026 Dollerama sells bird seed bells. You hang them outside and the birds peck away at them. Some pieces of the bell can fall on the ground. This happened to a BC woman and her dog ate some of the pieces and became quite ill. The overnight vet stay came to $3400.00. She is seeking damages from Dollerama because they didn't warm her about the danger to her dog. She didn't win because Dollerama didn't manufacture the seed bell. They sold it already packaged, so it wasn't their responsibility. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-woman-dollarama-bird-seed That is complicated. Maybe the manufacturer of the seed bell is responsible and should pay damages. They could at least label the product better. Could they have foreseen that a dog might eat some of their product? It wasn't sold for dogs. Should she have been more careful with her dog? I know dogs love to eat odd things. How much is the owner responsible if the dog eats something that makes it sick. I think the Vet's bill seems a little high. They only kept the dog overnight and they charged over three thousand dollars. I guess the lesson here is to not let your dog eat odd things and maybe look for a cheaper vet. |
