Jonathan the tortoise has been around a long time. He is more than 194 years old. The Guinness Book of Records has declared him the official Oldest Living Land Animal. Jonathan is a Seychelles Giant Tortoise who was hatched before 1832. He has been living at the governors mansion on St Helena Island since 1882.
He was more than fifty years old at the time the arrived.

The average life expectancy of a Seychelles Tortoise is 150 years. Jonathan has definitely lived longer than that. He looks good and is clearly being well looked after.
