There is actually wildlife living in New York City. Some of it is native to the area and some arrived with the people who built New York.
All of the wildlife has been exposed to extreme urban habitats. Biologists studying the various animal populations have discovered that they have changed and adapted and even mutated. Some have tolerated higher levels of pollution and a diet of our scrapes.

Life is persistent and adaptable. Who would have thought about salamanders and mice adapting to life in New York.
We all know about the rats. They have done more than adapt. They have thrived. You have to wonder what other animals have adapted to human cities around the world. I am pretty sure the raccoons in Toronto have done some adapting. They certainly have skills their country cousins don't have.
I wonder what is goi g on in other cities. Let's hope someone is studying this.
