A female Loggerhead Turtle was found n the cold waters of Juan de Fuca Straight, between Washington State and British Columbia. The turtle was cold shocked and barely moving. She was taken to Vancouver Aquarium for rest and recovery. They named her Moira. When she was ready, the group Turtles Fly Too, flew her down to San Diego where she spent some days at Sea World California. She was then taken out to sea, about 8 miles from shore and released. She was fitted with a satellite transmitter and it showed that within days she had continued south to warmer Mexican waters.

It looks like Moira s going to be okay. It took a whole team of people to save her. Special thanks should go to the father son fishing team that spotted her and rescued her in the first place. If they hadn't realized she was in trouble, she would have died. Vancouver Aquarium was there for her when she needed help to recover. Turtles Fly Too came through as always with help to get Moira back to where she belonged. Sea World California made sure she was ready to return to the ocean. Then a team took her out and released her. Now Moira is happily swimming in warmer waters where she belongs and where she can survive.
Well done everyone! You all made a difference in one turtle's life and by doing that you made a difference for the whole species.
