A truck full of pups
#1
A truck full of rescues arrived in Barrie, Ontario from the more northern fire areas. The trip was thousands of kilometers and took a week. In all there were 65 dogs and four cats.
The Lost Boys Hope Rescue coordinated the event, but other rescues took many of the dogs.
The Georgian Triangle Humane Society picked up most of the animals. Others were sent to foster homes further south.

The Lost Boys Hope Rescue is now preparing to pick up another load of rescue pups.

I am amazed at the number of rescue groups that are out there doing their work. We seldom ever hear about them, but they are out there.
Can you imagine a week long road trip with 65 dogs and 4 cats. They me be on the road, but they still have to be cared for.
They all looked pretty happy when they arrived so they were well cared for.
Then there are the shelters that step up and take the dogs as they arrive. People are working together and doing great things.
One rescue group was able to transport the dogs. Other groups were able to take them on and care for them and find them homes.

The sad thing is how many animals needed rescue. The wildfires are part of it, but there already were northern dogs that needed help.
The fires just made the situation more urgent. Well done everyone. Keep up the good work.
