Intruders broke into an Iowa mink farm and released 2000 mink. The owners are working to trap the mink.

This is a complicated situation. These mink are being raised to be killed for their fur. They don't live good lives.
Released mink are not wild animals and do not know how to survive in the wild. Most die if not captured withing 24-48 hours.
Some released mink will kill other animals.
Releasing the mink does not actually liberate them. It also endangers local wildlife.
If they wanted to rescue the mink, they would need to take them somewhere where they could be humanely
looked after. That would be a difficult rescue. The mink would be hard to handle and the rescuers would be charged with theft.
I don't know what can be done, but just freeing the mink is not working.
The real solution is to convince people not to wear fur. It might take longer to get results, but it would be a real solution.
