Critically endangered sharks sold as food in US grocery stores
#1
When shark meat from US grocery stores was analyzed, it was found to be mislabelled or ambiguously labelled. As much as 93% was mislabelled.
Some of the meat was from critically endangered species. This puts the sharks more at risk. It also endangers the humans eating the meat.
Some sharks have higher mercury levels and are not safe for human consumption. They were found on the shelves labeled ambiguously as meat that is safe to eat.

I think it would be safer to stop eating any kind of shark. It would definitely help the sharks. Since we can't control the shark fishing industry and we clearly can't trust the stores selling the products, it would be safer for us to avoid any  form of shark meat.
Do you really need to eat shark?
