Black Rhinos are critically endangered. There are nine living in the area of Kenya. rangers started seeing baby Rhino footprints following one of the female Rhino's footprints. Now they have seen the baby. It is about 6 months old and appears to be healthy.

This birth brings hope for the species in Kenya. Every Rhino birth is a reason the celebrate. This particular herd had a calf born in 2023.
There might be another calf on he way soon. This herd is genetically different from the other black Rhinos, so it does offer hope for genetic diversity for the overall
