The dogs of Chernobyl are the descendants of pets left behind during the evacuations after the nuclear disaster. People had to leave quickly and dogs and cats were left behind. They have survived and even thrived. Various groups have been studying them and the group Dogs of Chernobyl works to neuter cats and dogs to keep their numbers under control. Lately they have been finding dogs with blue fur, not bluish, really blue.

They couldn't confirm the cause, but they are probably right about the colour coming from old portable toilets. That weird blue liquid they use probably lasts forever. It has been almost 40 years since everything was abandoned. Of course the dogs rolled in it. Dogs will roll in anything, including liquid from a 40 year old portable toilet. They do look interesting and they are amazing dos to survive the way they do.
