Iguana problem in Florida
#1
I love Iguanas, but the free roaming Iguanas have become a real problem for Florida. They have no predators and they are destructive.
A home owner found a burrow of Iguana eggs and there were 98 eggs produced by 3 females.
They were removed, but if they had  hatched there would have been close to 100 more iguanas.
The Florida ecosystem can't sustain that many Iguanas.
One recommendation is planting native species that Iguanas don't like.

Florida does have to do something. Invasives species can totally destroy native species and in the end destroy a habitat.
I hope they can find humane solutions. They do need to act fast. Those 98 eggs are not the only Iguana eggs out there.
Iguanas are not the only invasive species either. Florida does have a serious ecological problem.
They need to act humanely and they need to act quickly.
