Trophy hunter kills Blondie the Lion is Zimbabwe
#1
Ten years ago it was Cecil the lion, killed by Walter Palmer, the dentist. Cecil was lured out of a protected area with bait.
This time it was Blondie the lion who was lured out of a protected area and killed by a trophy hunter. Both lions were wearing research collars and were part of a study.

This time the authorities are defending the killing and calling it legal. They have been very careful to protect the name of the lion killer.
Some countries in Africa have banned commercial hunting. Zimbabwe is not one of them. They make money off the killing so they support it.
There is something so ugly about trophy hunting. You have to wonder what kind of people are still doing it.

There is a photo of those involved in this barbaric killing in this article:

Note that the faces have been obscured - but by whom?

His identity cannot remain secret forever. Delvy Workman denies having killed the lion, but his attitude shows approval of lion hunting and he says he will help others to go lion hunting. See:

Apparently, the person responsible paid at least £35 000! People have lots of money to spend on a trophy killing. That money could have been given to charity instead. See:

"You have to wonder what kind of people are still doing it.". Indeed, Catherine. All I can say is that the majority of trophy hunters come from the USA, judging by their social media boasts and press coverage of trophy hunting.

This male lion was in his prime, so it was definitely not a case of culling an elderly lion.

You are right, most of the trophy hunters are from the USA, my country's nearest neighbour. If they are so proud of themselves, why are their faces blurred?

We put GPS collars on the lions. Maybe we should be putting GPS collars on the hunters.
They lure animals from protected areas so they can kill them. If they were really hunters, with skills, they would not need to do that.
Tracking them would give us proof of what they do and maybe even give us time to protect the lions.

Their identities will not remain hidden forever. Once they are known, they can get the full Palmer treatment.  We will never let go of what he did to Cecil the lion.
Now we have Blondie the lion to remember. He deserves justice too. All these butchered animals deserve justice. Finding out the names of the killers and making them public is a start.

Blondie was in his prime and he had a family. The hunters should be sued on behalf of Blondies family. It is really a wrongful death case.
They love to sue in the USA. It would be fitting.
