This is all tied up with land use and rice farming. Humans want to destroy more ecosystems in favor of commercial farming.
There is a market for capybara meat, but those animals are commercially raised as captive animals. That has nothing to do with the wild population.
Destroying the natural capybara habitat makes the country more vulnerable droughts. There could be some serious long term consequences.
Who would hunt a capybara. How would you even call that hunting. Capybara are a peaceful, gentle animal. They don't hurt anything.
What kind of person would actually shoot at a capybara?
