Exactly! Killing wolves is not magically going to provide the caribou with a food source and habitat! It's just going to be putting two species at risk

Signed. Because wolves get a very rough deal from humans, and it is shown that where wolves dwell, the environment, and even all the animals flourish. That is know as the "cascade effect". I think we have to learn how to live with wolves, learn to understand them and manage them carefully.

They missed the obvious point. Wolvers keep areas healthy. If they would feed the caribou to get them through this bad time, the balance could be restored. If they kill the wolves, they destabilize things further and the caribou will probably die out.
They don't understand ecology and the whole matrix of life. We can't fix it by making it worse. All we can do is help nature to reset things.
Maybe they should study the wolves in Yellowstone park. That is an incredible example of how wolves can repair damaged ecosystems.
With a gun all we can do is disrupt. It is like doing plastic surgery with a sledge hammer. You will look different afterwards, but I doubt it will be the result you hoped for.

This is so wrong.
I wanted to sign (though I am unsure if I have already signed this via Twitter a little while ago) -but couldn't find anywhere in the article to do that!
