We should have seen this coming. We have Ozempic as a human weight loss drug. Of course, now they are planning to use it on people's pets.
It could cost $100.00 per month, so there is money to be made here.

This drug was not developed for animals. I can't say it wasn't tested on animals because it probably was. It would have been tested on animals, with human use in mind. It will probably cause over weight pets to lose weight. If that was all there was to it, then it might be a good idea. However, what about the side effects. 
We are not sure about the side effects in humans yet. We certainly don't know about long term usage in humans, because it is a new drug.

So what about side effects when it is used on an over weight pet? We don't know.
What about long term usage in pets? We don't know.
Will they be releasing it as a veterinary product? Almost certainly.
Will there be problems? Without a doubt.


They are already doing clinical trials, so the drug will be available soon.
