Road closed to protect salamanders

It is that time of year again. The Jefferson's salamanders need to cross the road. They do this twice a year. In the spring they need to go to their egg laying site.
Now they need to go back to their hibernation site. So the road will be closed temporarily.
It is hoped that a crossing tunnel could be built in the future.

I think it is wonderful that they do this. Even more wonderful is that the drivers who are inconvenienced don't mind. They are happy to help the salamanders.
This is proof that we can live with nature. Good luck little salamanders. See you in the spring.
