Humpback Whale sets migration record
#1
The Humpback Whale was seen in the Pacific Ocean off of Colombia in 2017. He traveled to Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean.
That is a journey of 13,000 Km.
Humpback Whales normally travel seasonally from pole to pole, a journey of 8,000 Km.
It is not clear why he made such a long journey. Is it something to do with climate change and a search for food or a mate? Maybe.

We know this whale made this journey because he was seen. Do other whales travel extraordinary distances and we just don't know about it.
I hope we are able to keep track of the whale. I want to know where he goes next. Maybe he just likes to wander or is there something happening with the oceans we should know about. Definitely we should watch this whale.
