A man leaving for work finds his driveway covered in baby turtles

It is snapping turtle hatching time. One man found that out when he tried to leave for work. His driveway was covered in new hatchlings.
There were dozens of them. There were more in the grass and all over. He and his wife gathered them up and carried them to a nearby pond.
Once in the mud of the pond, the turtles knew what to do. There were 30 of them. Then later they found 7 more and then 6 more.
In all they found 43 snapping turtle hatchlings and delivered them safely to the pond.

That was a good mornings work. Saving 43 snapping turtles at once is no small thing.
The babies might have headed for the pond, but many wouldn't have made it.
I wonder if they will ever find out where the nest was. Turtles return to the same area to lay their eggs.
Next year they could be ready for hatching season.
