We all know the use of poison kills more than the target animal.
We all know strychnine is a horribly cruel poison.
Alberta and Saskatchewan are having problems with Richardson's Ground Squirrels.
Because of that, Ottawa has okayed the use of Strychnine against the ground squirrels.
Part of the problem is the predator/prey ratio is out of balance. They killed predators for too many years.
Now the consequences of that are too many ground squirrels.

They have created an imbalance in the ecosystem. You won't fix it by creating a further imbalance.
They need to stabilize the predator prey ratio and bring the ecosystem into a more natural state.
Hopefully this use of strychninedoesn't actually happen.
