Interesting article. It is great that these people dedicate their time to helping birds. We have a bit of a problem at our house, too, which certainly isn't a tower block. The birds sometimes fly into our windows. They are normally stunned and recover, but a few unlucky ones haven't. The article mentions about hanging string from the window. We will certainly try it.

I found a beautiful dead songthrush today, lying on the grass just in front of the summerhouse in the garden where I go to visit the cat every day. I couldn't think what had killed it. There was no evidence of an attack by the cat. It looked perfect and very healthy -just not alive.
I looked at the summerhouse window and saw a mark on the window which hadn't been there before. At the left a wing-shape, and in the middle, must have been where its head hit the glass.
It probably knew nothing after knocking itself out. But it's still a sad event.
That has never happened before. Nor against the house windows there. And I have been going there for 3 years.
Where I live, it's rare, but sometimes does happen.
