Monarchs and fireflies increased this year
#1
It is good to get good news once in a while. All around us species are declining and even disappearing.  However this year the Monarch Butterflies and the Fireflies have increased in numbers.

Some of the increase is weather related and outside of our control.  However we can take credit for planting milkweed and working to provide safe places for monarchs to lay their eggs. Our efforts are paying off. We have also reduced the use of pesticides and I think that must help. If we can work at saving the firefly habitats then we can help them to do better.

We still have to work harder to save our environment and to save biodiversity. It is just good to know that there are successes.
