There are only a few animals that can survive in the wild if they are blind. It would have to be an animal that doesn't rely on its sight as its primary sense. The animal would have to be able to find food without sight. I think some animals would manage.

Dogs use their sight, but they use their other senses as well. A blind dog or a blind cat can do well in their own home. Ginger allows Kimchi to enjoy life out in public. The blind dog is able to run with Ginger's help.

Animal's feelings about things are different than our feelings. I find animals accept handicaps without question. People will dwell on the sight they have lost. A dog will work with the senses he has and live the best he can. Any handicapped pets I have cared for seem untroubled by their differences. They just accept life as life.  I think we can learn from their attitude.
