We are the only species that has climbed down the evolutionary tree. We are less evolved than our distant ancestors.
There is no other species that has killing contests, not even in our distant past. We show a complete disregard for  animal lives. Sadly this isn't the only terrible thing humans have done to animals this past year. The ventilator shutdowns used to kill  excess farm animals  are consistent with animal killing contests. Both are acts of inherently cruel beings with no regard for others. It is something a psychopath might do.
