Shelter animals at risk as county terminates contract with animal shelter

The Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter has been under contract to Limestone County Alabama to run an animal shelter. On October 1, 2024 the contract ends leaving the shelter with 150 animals in its care. Their future is very uncertain.

This is very uncertain for the animals. It is unlikely they can find homes for them all.
Perhaps they can find other shelters to take some of the animals.
Depending on how this is handled, many of the animals could be euthanized.
