Pets impact or mental health
#1
We know pets have a lot of positive effects on our lives. On a practical level, service dogs can actually do things for us.
It is far more than that. Pets improve out mental health. They calm us. They fill our need for touch and companionship.
Dog especially lift us up. The more they study this the more obvious it is and the more they understand how it works.

I see the positive effects every day and I don't have a dog. If someone gets on a bus or a subway train with a dog I see blank frowning faces light up and start smiling. We just have to see the dog and we smile. If the dog actually comes up to us, we smile as we get off the train.

I can be trudging home after a long difficult day at work and run into a neighbour with a dog. Within minutes I am smiling and I have forgotten my day.
They are all helpful, but there are several that are special. They just have a gift for making people feel better. If we had a lot more dogs out there the world would be a happier place.

Instead of more security guards on the subway, I think we need more service dogs. We could hire people to ride the trains all day with their dogs. We would probably have a lot less trouble. We would certainly have happier people.
