The dog meat ban in South Korea is due to go into effect in 2027.
The industry is winding down.
Already 623 of the 1,537 dog farm have shut down. That still leaves almost 1000 dog meat farms.
There are an estimated half a million dogs living in these dog meat farms.
What will happen to these dogs?

This is a serious problem. The government is probably going to need a stronger program to help farmers transition to other types of farming.
The dogs however are another level of problem. They need to be rescued. It is unlikely that Korea could find homes for that many dogs withing the country.
This is going to need international involvement from various animal groups. I doubt any one group or one country could take on so many dogs at once.
There are less than two years before this happens. So for the sake of the dogs I hope plans are being made.
