I am familiar with Magpies from the years I lived in Alberta. I knew they are smart, but I think I underestimated them.
Scientists are really starting to look at crows and the results are surprizing. They clearly have skills beyond what we expected.
They are good at tool making and recognizing people. They are real problem solvers. We just don't know how to test their intelligence.
I think many creatures are smarter than we realize because we have not yet learned how to test intelligence in other species.
There was a big crow in my neighbour's tree when I got home. He was announcing his presence to the whole street.
Now I wonder what he wanted.
