Fish die off in the Mississippi

The Mississippi River is experiencing a large fish die off.  The extreme heat and low water levels are the problem. 
Ninety percent of the dead fish are invasive species. The native fish are hardier and more adapted to the conditions.

That makes this a good and bad thing. A fish die off is not a good thing for a river. Having a lot of invasive fish die off it a good thing. It gives the native fish a chance to survive. With the invasive population reduced, the native fish can multiply. The dead fish are food for local wildlife as well. Hopefully this really will be a good thing for local wildlife and local fish. It will be interesting to follow this situation in years to come.
